Reckless driving carries criminal penalties in Texas, as opposed to a citation. The Texas Transportation Code defines reckless driving as operating a vehicle with “willful or wanton disregard for

Under the Transportation Code, reckless driving can include driving too fast for conditions. It can also include driving way over the speed limit, weaving in and out of traffic, and running red lights.
